Information You Submit
Terms Entered in Search Boxes
A name, location, or other term entered in a search box is sent to the third-party provider that operates that tool. Douglas County Released Inmates does not store or log those query terms on its own systems. The provider’s terms and privacy policy govern its handling of the submitted query.
Messages Sent to Us
If you send an email or contact-form message, we retain the information needed to read and answer it. We do not share the message outside our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Technical Data Collected Automatically
A page request can create routine technical and usage records. Depending on the service involved, these records may include:
- The internet protocol address used for the request
- The browser name and version
- The device category and operating system
- Pages viewed and approximate time spent on them
- The referring website, when one is supplied
- The date and time of the request
Cookies and Similar Storage
Cookies help measure how visitors move through the site and may support features or advertising. Most browsers allow you to block or remove cookies. Some parts of the site may behave differently when cookies are disabled.
How We Use Collected Data
Collected information is used to operate, understand, and improve the service. Those purposes include:
- Keeping pages available and responsive
- Sending search requests to the selected partner service
- Learning which Douglas County resource pages visitors find useful
- Diagnosing errors, abuse, and other technical problems
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
Government and Third-Party Links
The site links to the Douglas County release query, sheriff records, Douglas Community Corrections, Oregon government portals, federal locators, and third-party search tools. Once you follow an outbound link, that operator’s privacy policy governs the information it receives. Government access to nonexempt Oregon public records is separately governed by Oregon Public Records Law in ORS chapter 192, not by this private-site notice.
Some advertising partners use their own systems to recognize activity across websites and select targeted advertisements. Any such tracking occurs under the partner’s practices, not as a Douglas County government function.
Parties That May Receive Data
We do not sell personal information. Information may still be transmitted or disclosed to limited categories of recipients:
- Search partners that process a query submitted to their tool
- Analytics providers that measure site use
- Advertising networks that deliver or assess advertisements
- Law enforcement or another government body acting under a valid legal order
Reasonable Security Measures
We use standard administrative and technical practices intended to protect information. No internet connection, storage system, or transmission method is fully secure, so we cannot promise that a breach or unauthorized access will never occur.
Visitors Under Eighteen
This site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a parent or guardian believes a minor submitted information, a request may be made through the Get in Touch page so it can be reviewed and deleted where applicable.
Your Privacy Choices
Subject to applicable law and the information we actually hold, you may ask us to:
- Provide a copy of personal data associated with you
- Correct inaccurate personal information
- Erase personal data where the request applies
- Stop certain processing where an opt-out right exists
